We are a certified Music & Memory℠ facility.
We are pleased to announce that CCH-Hudson and Pine Ridge Assisted Living have become MUSIC & MEMORY℠ certified facilities. Along with the facilities, Deb Tonsager, Therapeutic Recreation Manager/Music Therapist at CCH and Brenda Magadanz, Director of Pine Ridge have also become certified.
Now that the training is completed and the certifications are received, comes the big task of getting the program off the ground. A total of 15 residents have been selected to be the first to receive their own iPod with their personalized music playlist. The residents were chosen for either their cognitive or physical needs. Families of these residents have been contacted to help develop their loved ones playlist. We have dedicated volunteers who are eager to download music and set up the iPods.
What is Music and Memory℠?
Music & Memory℠ is a program where personalized music playlists are created for our residents with input from themselves as well as family, friends and our staff. These playlists are loaded onto iPods so residents can connect with the music they love, with the goal of improving their overall health and well-being.
What are the anticipated benefits?
Reduction in the reliance of anti-psychotic and anti-anxiety medications, reduced agitation and sundowning, enhanced engagement and socialization with family, friends, staff and peers, increased cooperation and attention resulting in reduction of resistance to care, opportunity to offer an enjoyable and fulfilling personal activity.
The ultimate goal of this program is to have an iPod for every resident at CCH and Pine Ridge Gardens Memory Care unit. This means we need to have 75-80 iPods to meet this goal. If you have an new or gently used iPod that you are no longer using and would like to donate it, please contact Deb Tonsager at 715-386-4524. Or if you would like to make a cash donation toward the project or purchase an iTunes gift card, you can mail it or drop it off at Pine Ridge Business office.
